Melissa Gisler Modanlou wants you to drink real wine - everyday.  She's a certified Advanced Sommelier that has spent the past 12 years working in wine. For the first 7 of those years, she was launching and running a wine bar and retail shop in San Francisco (Ottimista + Spuntino). After learning about all the ways wines can be processed and manipulated, she launched Rock Juice in late 2015 in an effort to bring organic, low-intervention wines to drinkers everywhere.

Rock Juice is a natural wine discovery service that curates a unique selection of small production wines each month. The team works directly with growers and producers around the world to source wines that meet its strict standards: organic and biodynamic farming practices, made with wild yeast, low sulfite levels, and no additives. Because, with no ingredient labeling on wine, it’s hard to know what’s in a bottle – and what you’re putting in your body.

Our name - inspired by the vignerons of Chablis, who refer to their wines from the region’s seriously stony soils as “rock juice” - reflects our palate. We like our juice edgy but clean, provocative but not weird. Bright and racy, with high acid and low alcohol. No big, fancy fruit bombs or obvious oak here. Just honest, unadulterated wine that reflects the true character of the grape and its place.
